FAQ's on golf equipment and golf club clones

1. Can golf clubs built using components perform as well as brand name clubs?

Yes! The quality of the products we sell at Discount Golf Clubs & Golf Equipment go through the same tight quality control measures as the top names in golf equipment. We require the same high quality materials and the same stringent manufacturing processes. Our main suppliers are ISO 9002 certified, meaning that each manufacturing step is measured and documented. Any deviations are quickly identified and corrected, resulting in quality, consistent product, time after time. In many cases, Discount Golf Clubs & Golf Equipment components are even higher in quality because we can't fool our clubmakers with poor quality product.

Nobody can truly tell the quality of off-the-shelf products because they are already pre-built. Of course, using Discount Golf Clubs & Golf Equipment components gives you the option of customizing clubs to the player's individual needs, something that can't be provided by off-the-shelf clubs. We also use industry standard sizes on our hosels, shafts, and grips, which allows you to mix and match an infinite combination of clubs. For example, you can easily reshaft and regrip an existing head many times over, allowing your clubs to grow with you. Many off-the-shelf clubs use non-standard sizes, forcing you to replace parts with their own expensive products (if it can be replaced at all).

2. Why do your components cost so little in comparison to brand name clubs?
Name brand golf equipment companies staff large assembly and administrative operations, and they are typically located in high rent districts. In addition, the bigger companies usually have very large advertising expenses, like TV advertising and paying Tour pros to play their clubs. All of this needs to be added into the cost of brand name clubs.

Discount Golf Clubs & Golf Equipment does very little advertising and does not pay pros to use our products, instead promoting our products through low-cost marketing channels like our website, and your word of mouth. This allows us to pass the savings on to you!

3. Are your clubs knockoffs or copies?
No! Many companies in golf produce and create very innovative products. Discount Golf Clubs & Golf Equipment acknowledges and respects the intellectual property of every company in the golf industry, and we make every attempt to identify and avoid patent and trademark infringement. Each product in the Discount Golf Clubs & Golf Equipment line stands on its own merits.

4. How do I choose the right components?
Each component has its own distinct playing characteristics. Identify the features that best suit the person you're fitting. For example, heads with a lower center of gravity tend to hit the ball higher, which typically leads to more airtime but less roll. Heads with lots of perimeter weighting (deeper cavities) will be more forgiving, but not as workable to the better player.

Shafts with lower torque are more resistant to twist, but they are also more expensive and tend to have a harsher feel. Higher handicappers and slower swingers should go with a shaft with a little more torque, which provides a softer feel.
